CT Scans

A CT Scanner (Cone Beam Computed Tomography-CBCT) is a special type of x-ray machine used in situations where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. Th CT scanner uses technology which generates three dimensional (3-D) images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths, and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. The resulting image of the scan offers useful information for the assessment and planning of surgical implants. The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) suggests cone-beam CT as the preferred method for presurgical assessment of dental implant sites.
